Historically hay prices are at their lowest during harvest, but this year will change all historical data as we know it. We will see that all hay will be purchased during the harvest and the supply will be slim to none by this fall. Choosing the quality you need in the fall will be obsolete. Chad Pinson stated, “I am not concerned about the price of the hay, but the supply alone terrifies me.” The early birds will get the worm for the next couple years.” Because of this, CSAC has been working diligently to secure hay to service our customers throughout the year!
The best way to overcome the high cost of feed is to look at your cost per cow, per day and and compare the protein and energy levels in other ingredients to alfalfa hay. When you compare all other ingredients, Quality Alfalfa will be your most cost-effective source of protein and energy on a per cow basis.
